The Student Life Disability Services serves students with a variety of disabilities, including:
- Attention deficit disorder
- Learning disabilities
- Psychiatric disabilities
- Medical disabilities
- Chronic illnesses
- Mobility impairments
- Visual impairments
- Deafness or hard of hearing
Disability Services does not provide students with advantages, but rather with accommodations that allow students to achieve an equal opportunity for success in the classroom.
Accommodations offered depend on the nature of the student’s disability, and include transportation, alternative media, interpreting, assistive technology, counseling, captioning, disability parking, exam accommodations and note-taking assistance.
Before accessing these accommodations, students must register with SLDS. We recommend that all eligible students register even if accommodations are not needed for every class or for every semester.
