Class permission contacts
Most of Ohio State's high-demand courses have course enrollment policies set at the department or course coordinator levels. See below for instructions and contact information to help you seek permission for these classes.
For most other courses you can to ask the instructor for permission over the seat limit (through the Friday of week 1) or for late enrollment permission (through the Friday of week 2). You can find an instructor's name on the Class Schedule in My Buckeye Link.
Waitlists are active through Friday of week 1 of classes each term. After that date, most high-demand courses have instructions on actions that should be taken by students still seeking enrollment.
- Biology FAQs
- Use waitlist in week 1. Students who are 1 or 2 for a lab can attend the lab.
- What if I get in but after the first lab? Contact the TA for makeup activity. TA contact info available on Carmen.
- After waiting list goes inactive, if you are not enrolled in a class by the first Friday of the semester, you must contact the course coordinator of the class in which you are interested (search osu.edu) to be enrolled in an open seat. Any open lab seats will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Instructors cannot give permission.
- See this page for Course Coordinators by course.
- Waitlist through week 1.
- After Friday of week 1: if any seats are open in week 2, contact the course coordinator for permission to enroll: cse.osu.edu/course-coordinators
- Waitlist through week 1.

- Note: If still not enrolled in your math class after waiting list goes inactive after Friday of week 1, email mathadvisors@math.osu.edu or visit the Math Advising office. Students should know the specific class name, number and section they wish to enroll (e.g., Math 1151 Recitation Section #25654). Students should have alternate options in case their desired section is not available. Students will only be enrolled if space exists. If no more space is available, students must wait until the next semester the course is being offered to enroll.
- On Tuesday through Friday of week 2, contact the Math Advising office with your specific request. Math Advising will only approve late adds through the second week of the semester.
- Note: Late adds will not be permitted for Math 1116, Math 1125, Math 1126, Math 1135, Math 1136, Math 1165, Math 1166, Math 2167 and Math 2168. Enrollment into these courses is only permitted through the first week of the semester.
